Sardinia is, by size, the second largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily and the third region of Italy from which it is separated from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Over 80% of the territory is mountainous or hilly, and only 18.5% is flat.
Rightly defined as "Caribbean of the Mediterranean " for its wonderful sea, Sardinia has about 2000 km of coastline within which are the beaches of many colors that represent the true and their corners of paradise. The landscape is sandy at times interrupted only by rocky formations and port facilities. Sardinia also belong to the islands and islets that surround it including the dell'Asinara island, the Island of San Pietro, the Island of Sant'Antioco, the Island of Tavolara, the archipelago of La Maddalena with Caprera.
The capital of Sardinia is Cagliari which is the most important set in Sassari. The other provinces are Oristano, Nuoro, Carbonia-Iglesias, Medio Campidano, and Ogliastra Olbia-Tempio.
The holidays in Sardinia also offer many other attractions such as marine parks, archaeological excavations and the artistic and cultural itineraries, regional folklore, traditions and craft room, the eno-gastronomy. The most popular tourist destinations are in the north, the Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo, Baia Sardinia, Arzachena, Palau, Santa Teresa di Gallura, the archipelago of Maddalena.
Going along the west coast are Alghero with its coral and its beaches, the archaeological area of Tharros and down until you come to Cape Teulada is a succession of wonderful natural landscapes made of beaches, coves, bays which are reflected in the sea.
